You can examine the vacuum canister to see if the clog has been removed. Cleaning your drain line regularly is one of the best things you can do to prevent clogs. There is no exact amount you need to add, but around ¼ a cup should be fine.
Push the stiff, thin brush into the end of the drain line. You can use a wet/dry vacuum to help you suck the water. The location depends on your hvac system, but most condensate pans are located directly under the inside unit or directly under the outside component of your air conditioning system.
If there is excess water in the condensate pan, the drain line might be clogged. You might require a bucket at this point should your drain line be full. Use your hand to form a nice, tight seal around the vacuum’s hose.
For many years the recommendation for cleaning the drain line has been to use bleach or white vinegar with hot water as a cleaning solution. Now, flush out the vinegar in the drain line with water. Alternatives to vinegar include hot water, peroxide, or bleach.
Repeating this several times should remove a small blockage. Turn off the power to your hvac system at the thermostat and at the breaker. Pour a warm water and bleach mixture through the condensate drain line — as seen here.
Cleaning the condensate drain is relatively simple, and even better, you can clean your condensate drain with a product you probably already have at home: Do whatever you can to avoid introducing any of these items into a drain. This is a pvc pipe that is usually situated outside, near your condenser unit.
